“Legends of American Music” takes you on a musical journey through the decades of the 1940’s, 1950’s, and beyond to celebrate legends like Sammy Davis, Jr., Ray Charles, and Jerry Lee Lewis. SPOT-ON ENTERTAINMENT presents Broadway entertainer and pianist, Johnny Rodgers (Tony Award-winning, Liza’s At The Palace) with his boy-next-door charm and his creamy crooner’s voice to offer hits like “The Birth of the Blues”, “Georgia On My Mind” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”.  Rodgers will also include music by legends Johnny Mercer and Hoagy Carmichael, among others.  He has earned MAC, Bistro and Nightlife performance awards and the prestigious Billboard and ASCAP songwriting awards. As American Music ambassadors, the Johnny Rodgers Band tours extensively for the U.S. State Department around the globe like the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands presenting diplomatic and Performing Art Center performances and highly acclaimed workshops for local students, arts communities, and musical groups.

JOHNNY RODGERS is an internationally-celebrated singer-songwriter, pianist, Broadway star, and recording artist who is described by Stephen Holden, from THE NEW YORK TIMES, as an entertainer “that can't be found anywhere else” with “fused elements of Billy Joel, Peter Allen and Johnny Mercer.” Johnny dazzles audiences with his enthusiastic musical mélange of music to celebrate the “Legends of American Music” featuring classic favorites made popular by Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Bill Withers, Elvis, among others. With a tip of his hat to legendary songwriters like Johnny Mercer and Hoagy Carmichael, Johnny weaves audience favorites and a sprinkling of his award-winning original songs into his performance. “Legends of American Music” is more than a mere concert. It is an experience, creating a unique synergy at every show. The show and educational workshops were conceived by the Johnny Rodgers Band and inspired while sharing American Music across the country and abroad throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands on multiple month long tours with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The show is produced by the world renowned Live Music Producer, Tom Jackson Productions (Taylor Swift, Jordin Sparks, Jars of Clay). Johnny has earned the famed Nightlife, Bistro, and MAC Awards for his outstanding performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, The Royal Room at The Colony Hotel Palm Beach, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, 92nd Street Y, Birdland Jazz Club, and other premiere venues. He has won the Billboard and The Great American Song Contests and the ASCAP Foundation Award for his songwriting. Liza Minnelli recognized Johnny’s talent taking him on her world tour and then starring Johnny as Bob Williams in the Tony Award-winning Liza’s At The Palace, which now appears on PBS television. Johnny co-wrote the featured song “I Would Never Leave You” and is included on the show’s DVD release as well as the Grammy- nominated CD. Johnny’s classic favorites like “What A Wonderful World”, “Too Marvelous for Words” and “Ain’t No Sunshine”, among others will be released on tour in 2012. All of his recorded albums feature the Johnny Rodgers Band including his debut CD, Box of Photographs with five award-winning songs, Bound Together and Let’s Make A Date which includes Johnny’s original title track duet with Liza Minnelli. “The Best Of You In Me” on the Bound Together album is available in a choral arrangement from Hal Leonard Publishing. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) selected The Johnny Rodgers Band to interpret and perform the music of Billy Joel in a command performance for the “Piano Man” himself.
